There are about 3500 host sites, usually churches, in 35 different states, that come under Angel Food Ministries. Each site has its own order and pick up schedule, but in general orders are placed at the start of the month, in person, and collected around the end of the month. Angel Food Ministries accepts cash or even food stamps but you must pay for your order in advance. You also have an option to order your packages online from their website.

This might mean that you have to reorganize your meal preferences, but you have a great opportunity to save a fair bit of money on your grocery bills. You can find the host site closest to you buy visiting the AFM web site and entering your zip code. You can then contact that nearby host site directly to place your order in person. If there are no sites near you, there is information at the official website on how your local church can take up the responsibility and become a host site to help people in your locality. Host sites earn $1 every time someone orders from them to help cover the costs of running it.

Who Started Angel Food Ministries?

Angel Food is a non-profit, non-denominational faith based organization started back in the 90’s (1994 to the exact) with Pastors Joe and Linda Wingo of Monre, Georgia. When factories in their locality were closed, leaving a lot of families without work, they started providing food from their own back porch. By ordering at great discounts from other sources and with a $7 million dollar loan from the USDA, Angel Food are now able to pass the savings to hundreds of thousands of struggling families.

Currently, Angel Food Ministries helps about 500,000 families every month across the nation and the need is ever increasing. The orders have jumped 15% more than last month and when compared to last year, the orders are up over 50%.
